Educational Therapy (ET) is a practice that works with students with learning differences. Educational Therapy incorporates the understanding of HOW students learn by presenting explicit instruction to students with various learning profiles. Educational TheraTherapyifferent from tutoring because Educational Therapists have taken extensive training in conducting academic assessments, understanding how to read/interpret Psycho-Educational and Neuropsychological assessments, and training in specific intervention and remediation programs. All our Educational Therapists have Masters degrees in Special Education, Reading Intervention, or Education.
The Association of Educational Therapists states, "Educational tTherapyis the practice of providing personalized remedial instruction to children and adults with learning challenges, including but not limited to dyslexia, ADHD, executive functioning deficits, and language, visual, and auditory processing issues. They have extensive training and experience in administering academic assessments, developing intervention plans, and implementing strategies to address challenges with reading, writing, spelling, math organization, and study skills. A vital role of the educational therapist is to serve as case manager, working in collaboration with family, teachers, and other professionals involved in the client’s life." (www.aetonline.org)
Tutoring or Academic Coaches are for students who need direct instruction and support with subject specific content. This may include specifically reteaching of concepts in a more personalized setting. Our Academic Coaches specialize in middle and high school subjects in addition to ISEE prep and ACT/SAT prep.
